Why did you join Factory45?
I joined Factory45 because I wanted to transition my small handmade business into an ethically made, American-manufactured brand, and had no experience with sourcing and working with production partners.
Tell us about your company.
Our handbags are made in small batches by a local production partner, using responsibly-sourced leathers. We also have a line of clutches made from eco-friendly or deadstock fabrics, that are sewn by talented refugee women. Each bag comes with a dustbag, made from upcycled and recycled materials (such as the drawstrings from ski patrol jackets).
How did joining Factory45 help you?
The Factory45 course content is so incredibly valuable. Not only did Shannon teach us the steps to go through to launch our products and brands, but she also provided databases filled with contacts and templates to help get us started.
What is the most valuable thing about Factory45?
It is too hard to pick just one! The lessons and contact databases are so incredibly valuable, but I am truly grateful for the camaraderie and community with the other designers and Shannon.
I would absolutely recommend Factory45 to anyone interested in creating a Made in America textile product. What we learned would have taken years and tears to learn on our own outside of the course.
So often we hear that we should follow our dreams. But Factory45 gives you the roadmap to actually achieve that dream.
